A custodian must be a registered Trust Company. For one to register as a Trust Company the institution must meet stringent state requirements and have adequate reserves. Your money is kept in a separate account for your benefit and not subject to creditors of the custodian. Further, if your funds have been placed into an LLC or C Corporation, the custodian never has control of your money – YOU DO!
